Best New Features in Photoshop CS5 for Web Designers

Adobe has launched their newest iteration of Photoshop, named Photoshop CS5. New CS5 features are mostly directed at people interested in manipulating photos, but there are some features that are handy even for web designers. Here’s a few of them.

Better Edge Detection

Photoshop CS5 has a new and improved technology for selections. It offers better edge detection and masking results in less time, even on the most trickiest things, like hair. Here’s a video where Adobe’s Photoshop Product Manager Bryan O’Neil Hughes shows you little bit about this new technology.

Content Aware Fill

Content aware fill is the most talked about new feature in Photoshop CS5. It is a fully automated image patching tool and it assures to revolutionaise the photo industry. It truly is exciting and promising feature.  Basically it allows you to alter photographs as easily as selecting an area and running the feature. Not convinced yet? Check the video below.

Puppet Warp

Straighten

The old Ruler-tool now has a new button, called Straighten. With it, you can f.ex. draw a horizontal line in the picture and the picture will be straightened according to that.

Multilayer Opacity

Now you can adjust multiple layer’s opacity. I know it seems like a minor feature, but at least for me, this is really important and I’m gladly it finally came to Photoshop CS5.

  1. I have tested with new release of the Drupal. It is actually real solid. The admin panel is similar to wordpress. And some more such functionalities are contributed.
